If we compare several domestic appliances like a washing machine, a kitchen cooker or a fridge, a pool pump consumes as much as 7 fridges! Who would of thought? But after thinking about it, doesn’t it make more sense. Your swimming pool motor is literally a 1 horsepower motor running on high, non stop for 8 hours a day (I’m speculating). And for those of you who don’t know, those motors rotate at 3450 RPM! That’s moving! Just as an example as to how fast that really is, put your hand on the top of your motor after it’s been on for a while. It’s scorching hot. You could almost fry an egg on that thing! In some cases I think you could literally fry an egg. That’s why letting your motor run dry (without water) is such a big deal, because of the heat generated. So they had no choice but to listen to what I was saying. Because lets be honest, your calling about something you may not really know anything about, but you still want a good price. But if the first thing out of my mouth was $1200.00 I’ve lost your interest before I even had a chance to talk.

So lets talk about what variable speed pumps bring to the table other than cost. And let me start by saying they truly have revolutionized the swimming pool industry and I wouldn’t put any other motor on my pool.
